The Practice

Ashtanga yoga, as taught by Shri K Pattabhi Jois, is a dynamic practice of yoga that combines vinyasa, tristhana and bandha. Consistent daily practice with a focus on these three elements will lead to purification of the body and nervous system, and balance of the mind.

The Primary Series is the foundation of our practice. It is also called Yoga Chikitsa, wherein we practice from a therapeutic perspective: to heal our physical, mental and emotional blocks. The Intermediate Series, referred to as Nadi Shodhana, continues this healing process through purifying the nervous system. As we gradually progress in our Ashtanga practice, we can discover and rediscover ourselves.
